Venture Capital Scenario Modeling

Context
This project was designed to help venture capital clients manage capital structure data across investments and model hypothetical funding scenarios to project performance outcomes. The challenge was creating a workflow that allowed users to compare actual data against projected scenarios while supporting complex financial analysis without overwhelming them.
My Contribution
I collaborated with the product manager to translate business requirements into a usable, client-ready solution:
- Scenario Framework: Designed a scenario-based workflow where users could review actual data, create projected funding scenarios, and compare potential outcomes.
- Hypothetical Scenario Management: Designed flexible workflows that allowed users to create, deactivate, and reactivate hypothetical scenarios as needed for forecasting and comparison.
- Forecast Integration: Designed the workflow so projected scenarios automatically fed into financial forecasting tools, allowing users to review projected outcomes and build custom analyses.
- Investment Configuration: Added functionality for users to choose which investment components to include in a projected scenario, making forecasts more realistic and tailored.
- Prototype & Demo Prep: Created an interactive prototype and a prototype walkthrough guide for the product manager to present at an industry convention.
Outcome
The product demonstration was well received, with potential clients responding positively to the ability to model projected investment scenarios alongside actual financial data. The design created a strong foundation for a forecasting tool that improved visibility, flexibility, and confidence in financial planning
