Smart WiFi TV UI

Role: UX/UI Designer
Company: Altice

Context

Altice was rolling out Smart WiFi, a new service that automatically connected devices to the optimal WiFi band (2.4 GHz or 5 GHz). Unlike the older system where users had to choose between two separate bands, Smart WiFi simplified the experience by presenting only one unified network. To support this rollout, the TV UI needed a way to educate users about Smart WiFi and guide them through enabling it.

My Contribution

As the UX/UI Designer, I created a clear, guided experience within the set-top box interface:

  • Promotional Splash Page: Designed an entry point that explained the benefits of Smart WiFi and encouraged users to enable it.
  • Activation Flow: Built a straightforward setup sequence that showed a loader while the backend activated Smart WiFi.
  • Error Handling: Designed fallback error screens to reassure users and provide next steps in case the activation process failed.
  • Smart WiFi Settings: Once complete, users could go view their updated WiFi network settings screen. This screen now shows a single network name and password instead of two.

Outcome

The Smart WiFi UI increased customer awareness and adoption of the new service while reducing confusion around multiple WiFi bands. Users were able to activate Smart WiFi directly from their TV with minimal effort, improving both ease of use and service clarity.
